These camps will be led by M.L. Johnson. M.L. has a long history in the sports community here in Fort Collins. He created and managed the CSU Youth Sports Program, coached volleyball for university students, and served eight years as an elected Poudre School District Board Director.
“Every player needs to develop fundamental skills in a sport because competence builds confidence.”
Assisting M.L. will be former Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo volleyball player Mark Levy. Mark has 45 years of experience both playing and coaching volleyball. He has spent the past seven years coaching 5th – 8th grade girls teams in the Fort Collins area.
“Volleyball is a tool that teaches young men and women how to face difficult circumstances where they are forced to be uncomfortable and pushed to balance school, life, family, and volleyball. This is a challenge for every young adult and a necessary part of preparing for the next stages in life.”
Our Summer Volleyball Camps are designed for beginning and intermediate players (not for ‘travel team’ players). No experience is necessary. [Note: Players are split by skill and age the first day of camp.]
Instruction is provided by experienced, local volleyball instructors.
The camps will cover both individual and team skills. All basic volleyball skills are covered (as time and age allows). This camp emphasizes individual volleyball skills but also incorporates some elements of team play and game strategy. Camp time includes both instruction through drills and controlled scrimmages (once the players are at a level where a scrimmage is an effective learning tool).
The focus is on LEARNING and on HAVING FUN!
No equipment is required although many players like to wear knee pads. These can be purchased in any sporting goods store or department store in the area.
