FCBC INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE PRE-TRYOUT CAMPS
Is your player trying out for a 2019 FCBC Intermediate Baseball Team on March 10 at The Edge? All players participating in this tryout will be evaluated on hitting and fielding skills as well as speed. In addition, players that are interested in being pitchers and/or catchers will be evaluated on skills specific to those positions.
Our “FCBC Intermediate League Pre-Tryout Camps” are designed to get your player ready! These camps focus exclusively on the baseball skills that will be evaluated during tryouts.
Our Four-day camps use daily repetition of key drills to drive improvement in these tryout areas:
- Fielding (including throwing skills and fielding)
- Pitcher/Catcher Technique (for those interested)
Our one-day “Quick Tune-up Camp” will focus exclusively on hitting and fielding.
These classes will be led by experienced, local youth baseball instructors who were members of the coaching team in our most recent Winter Break Camp. Coach Tony Cortese will lead the 7 – 9 year-old four-day camp. Coach Matt Carver will lead the 10 – 14 year-old Four-day camp as well as the “Quick Tune-up camp.”
Small Group Hitting Instruction
Our Small Group Hitting Training Program focuses exclusively on improving the player’s ability to hit the baseball successfully. Groups are small with a maximum of 6 players per instructor. The session format is one hour per week for 6 weeks.
With the low instructor-to-player ratio and the multi-week nature of the program, the instructors not only get to know the players’ hitting strengths and needed improvement areas but also get to know them as individuals. There is no ‘starting over’ every week with player evaluations. Instead, each week the instructor provides the context for the player to improve on the previous week’s skill level.
Improvement is made through a combination of demonstrations of proper technique by the instructor, tee-work, soft-toss work, and live-throw work. Players will get plenty of swings in each session.
These classes will be led by experienced, local youth baseball instructors who were members of the coaching team in our most recent Winter Break Camp.
